A Sanctuary for Posttraumatic Growth in the Mountain West
Nestled against the awe-inspiring Wind River Range, Boulder Crest Wyoming will serve as a place of refuge, reflection, and renewal for our nation’s heroes and their families. Spanning 207 acres of pristine ranchland in Boulder, Wyoming, this future campus expands Boulder Crest Foundation’s reach into the Mountain West — bringing Posttraumatic Growth–based programs to veterans, first responders, and families who have long faced geographic barriers to care.
Boulder Crest Wyoming is made possible through a historic and deeply meaningful gift from Navy veteran Albert “Al” Ellis and his family, whose generosity ensures this land will serve a purpose greater than itself — for generations to come.
A Legacy of Service, Stewardship, and Purpose
Al Ellis’ life has been defined by service, self-reliance, and a profound respect for the land. From his early years working in California’s farming communities, to his service as a U.S. Navy electronics technician, to decades spent as a commercial fisherman, diver, and entrepreneur, Al’s path has always been shaped by resilience and responsibility.
After relocating to Wyoming, Al found deep connection in the wilderness — spending extended time in the backcountry and becoming a leading expert on Ccara llamas. When the time came to determine the future of his ranch, Al chose to gift the land so it could become a place of healing, hope, and transformation for fellow service members and first responders.
His decision reflects a belief shared at Boulder Crest: that struggle, when properly supported, can lead to profound growth — and that land can be a powerful partner in that journey.
Programs at Boulder Crest Wyoming
Boulder Crest Wyoming will host the Foundation’s signature, non-clinical, peer-delivered programs rooted in Posttraumatic Growth:
- Warrior PATHH (Progressive and Alternative Training for Helping Heroes)
For combat veterans and first responders seeking to transform the impact of trauma and cumulative stress into strength and meaning. - Family Rest and Reconnection Stays
Offering service members, veterans, and their families a peaceful environment to rest, reconnect, and restore relationships impacted by the weight of service.
Initial programs at Boulder Crest Wyoming will begin in 2026, with the campus expected to be fully operational in 2027.
Why Wyoming Matters
The establishment of Boulder Crest Wyoming represents a critical expansion of care into rural and underserved regions. Veterans and first responders in Wyoming and neighboring states have historically faced limited access to effective, non-pharmacological support.
This campus allows Boulder Crest to meet those needs — without the burden of land acquisition — ensuring resources can be directed where they matter most: program delivery, impact, and lives saved.
Surrounded by open sky, rugged terrain, and profound quiet, Boulder Crest Wyoming will offer an environment uniquely suited for reflection, clarity, and growth — where participants can reconnect with themselves, with others, and with what matters most.
A Gift That Multiplies Impact
“We are humbled and profoundly grateful to Al Ellis and his family for this extraordinary gift,” said Ken Falke, Founder and Chairman of Boulder Crest Foundation.
“As a fellow Navy veteran, Al understands the sacrifice involved in service and the toll it can take long after the uniform comes off. He wanted this land to be a place of refuge and renewal for his brothers and sisters in arms.” – Ken Falke
“Al Ellis’ vision acts as a true force multiplier for our mission,” added Josh Goldberg, CEO of Boulder Crest Foundation. “By entrusting us with this land, he is enabling us to save lives and foster Posttraumatic Growth at scale. Boulder Crest Wyoming will stand as a testament to his generosity — not just as a new location, but as a place where those who have carried the weight of service can rediscover meaning, purpose, and a future filled with possibility.”
Looking Ahead
As Boulder Crest Wyoming takes shape, careful planning and stewardship will guide the transformation of this land into a sanctuary for healing and growth — while honoring its natural beauty and the intention behind the gift.
Together with our campuses in Virginia, Arizona, and Texas, Boulder Crest Wyoming strengthens a national network of hope — ensuring that wherever our nation’s heroes come from, there is a place where they can struggle well and grow.
