Every story in this written collection is a reminder that even in life’s darkest seasons, hope can take root in unexpected ways. At Boulder Crest, we witness transformation every day. Stories of those forged in the fires of their struggle. Stories of triumph. Stories of inspiration. Stories of growth. Here are a few of them.
USMC officer Brian Wilson carried the trauma of a deadly patrol in Ramadi for over a decade. At Boulder Crest, he discovered that the instincts that once kept him alive could also help him grow, reconnect, and show up fully for the life he fought to keep.
Backed by her Chief and Boulder Crest’s Struggle Well program, Deputy Chief Monica Prieto helped reshape the Tucson Police Department into a place where wellness and growth are part of the foundation. That transformation began with her own story.
Wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Iraq, Ian Ricci returned home carrying more than physical scars. He arrived at Boulder Crest going through the motions, unsure whether healing was even possible. But one moment during Warrior PATHH sparked a shift that changed everything.
Our short film series reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there is cause for hope.
Watch and listen to the real, unfiltered voices of people who’ve faced life’s hardest moments and found strength and hope on the other side.
“Before we came to Boulder Crest, we were existing more than thriving. After returning home, the family dynamic has been different. There is closeness in a variety of simple ways. Watching them smile and seeing the joy on their faces has been tremendous. If I can give a shout out or advice to a family who is struggling and thinking about coming here, I would say you deserve to be here. You deserve to have a better life.”
