Growing up in the Arizona desert, the son of a Korean War Veteran, Ari Sloane dedicated his life to service, culminating in a decorated 21-year career with the Tucson Police Department. He specialized in demanding roles as a Patrol officer, Hostage Negotiator, Field Training officer, and multiple Undercover Assignments. Ari graduated with a Bachelor’s of Psychology and a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona.
After retirement, Ari experienced years of profound struggle, having lost his sense of purpose, service, and passion for life; and being diminished with PTSD. His life changed during his deepest struggles and discovering the Boulder Crest Foundation, where he completed the Struggle Well and Warrior PATHH programs. Ari learned that his diagnosis of PTSD did not define him; rather, his trauma and struggle were the foundation for his own Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). His PTG journey was just beginning, and he realized that he is better because of his trauma and struggle. Ari immersed into the hard work on himself , realizing that he will continue his growth. He found his purpose once more.
Now, Ari is dedicated to helping his brothers and sisters find meaning and strength in their struggle and realize their potential for growth starting their own PTG journeys. As a humbled and honored Master Guide with the Struggle Well program, he guides and walks alongside others in thriving through their struggles and trauma, driven by the understanding that we are better because of our past.
A dog-lover and devoted family man to his wife and daughter, and die-hard Arizona Wildcats fan; Ari continues his passion for life through, hiking, cooking, cave exploring, and creating music with his band.
