Danny Tizon harmonizes Strategic Partnerships for Boulder Crest Foundation, helping expand the reach, impact, and sustainability of the Struggle Well Program. His work centers on identifying, cultivating, and stewarding partnerships that bring Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) training to military members, veterans, first responders, and communities nationwide. Danny believes deeply in this mission — and in the people it serves — because the 90-Day Struggle Well Experience personally changed, and ultimately saved, his life. He continues to grow through each class, carrying “take-home” reflections into his daily life and creating ripple effects in the people around him.
Danny is an “Integrity First” servant leader and strategic tactician with experience navigating crisis, risk, change, and cultural transformation across public, private, and nonprofit sectors over a decade. Before joining Boulder Crest, he oversaw Policy and Operations for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Field Leadership Directorate, supporting the preparedness, training, and deployment of 18 national response and recovery teams and hundreds of federal leaders — many of whom are veterans, former first responders, and public-service professionals. He drove interagency coordination and built strategic partnerships that strengthened readiness and resilience from local communities to major national and international disasters. His attitude towards service continued even when a medical issue halted his training as a United States Coast Guard Direct Commission Officer — redirecting him toward mentorship and supporting others advancing in the military.
Danny has also led high-impact initiatives in talent development, interagency collaboration, and community capacity building. His leadership spans organizations including Duke University Health, Wolfspeed, Team Rubicon, Samaritan’s Purse, Civil Air Patrol, and Rotary International. As a former Senior Firefighter and Assistant Chief of Emergency Medical Services, he has witnessed firsthand both the toll that service takes on responders and the transformational power of strong training, mentorship, and community support.
Often described as a “pracademic” — a practitioner and an academic — Danny has been recognized across federal, territorial, state, and local levels for ethical, effective leadership; mission-driven execution under pressure; and a deep commitment to people-first operations. At Boulder Crest, he brings a passion for authentic relationships, service-minded leadership, and helping individuals and communities not just endure adversity, but struggle well.
