Michelle was raised near Sacramento, California and lived there until she was 19 years old, when she moved to Los Angeles where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Theology. She then moved to Grass Valle where she lived and worked on-site at a facility for at-risk youth. Her next 5 years were spent in Santa Cruz working where she worked in Resident Life and eventually Admissions as an International Student Coordinator (ISC).
Michelle has always had a passion and curiosity for the justice system and began taking classes in Administration of Justice while working full-time. After moving back to the Sacramento area to further pursue work in the criminal justice system, she received two degrees in Administration of Justice in Law Enforcement and Courts. She got involved with the Probation department, Citizen’s Academy, and began working for the District Attorney’s Office in various capacities ranging from an Administrative Clerk, Legal Secretary, to a Victim Advocate who worked solely on Domestic Violence cases. Years later, she began working for the Sheriff’s Office in Evidence and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) where she processed evidence, crime scenes, laboratory items, etc.
It was during this time that some traumatic events occurred and Michelle sought help. She attended various retreats and trainings aimed at helping first responders, one of them being Warrior PATHH. Michelle medically retired from the Sheriff’s Office and continued to work on getting support. Eventually, Michelle began volunteering and assisting with different organizations that worked with first responders and vets suffering from PTSD, depression, administrative betrayal, suicidal ideations, childhood trauma, etc. After helping out with multiple programs, Warrior PATHH offered Michelle the opportunity to become a full-time PATHH Guide with Mobile Training Team Alpha (MTTA) where she is privileged to work alongside some of the same leaders that helped her through her journey. Michelle saw the way Warrior PATHH leaders valued, heard, and supported her throughout her trauma, journey, and training, and knew Boulder Crest was the organization she wanted to be a part of as she began a new chapter.
During her down time, Michelle enjoys nature, mountains, the beach, walks, coffee and tea, journaling, connecting, road trips, firepits, reading, deep conversations, movies, all the introverted things, cozy blankets, and her sweats.
