

Mohammed Makki brings over two decades of financial leadership and nonprofit experience to his role as Controller at Boulder Crest Foundation, which he joined in April 2025. He began his U.S. nonprofit career supporting reconstruction efforts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Iraq, following a foundation in audit and corporate accounting. Mohammed has since built a distinguished career leading finance operations for international NGOs and U.S. government-funded entities, including over six years as Director of Finance and Accounting at the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN), a $100 million media organization funded by the U.S. Agency for Global Media. There, he successfully led large-scale financial process improvements, Deltek Costpoint upgrades, federal compliance efforts under 2 CFR 200, and oversaw financial operations across six international offices. He also previously served as Manager of International Program Finance at Blumont International, where he provided oversight for 14 global offices and supported humanitarian programs funded by USAID, USDA, the DOD, and others.
Mohammed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Science from Al-Mustansiria University in Baghdad and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the Arab Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also certified in COSO Internal Controls by the AICPA and has completed extensive training in federal grants management, USAID compliance, and nonprofit financial leadership. Throughout his career, Mohammed has consistently been driven by a commitment not only to operational excellence and financial transparency but also to mentoring and empowering those around him. He is deeply passionate about supporting others’ professional growth and fostering strong, mission-aligned teams that strengthen the financial and operational capacity of the organizations he serves.
