Shannon is a United States Army veteran hailing from Philadelphia. With passions anchored in music, literature, and the social arts, Shannon received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance (flute) and Music History in 2009 and her Masters of Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021.
In between degree programs, Shannon served in the United States Army National Guard in Washington DC prior to going active duty and relocating to Ft. Stewart, GA where she joined the Third Infantry Division as an army flute player and singer. Combining her duties as a musician and S-3 NCO, she had the unique opportunity of serving her brothers and sisters-in arms during their most dignified and often terminal moments in service to the United States, an opportunity that has molded her commitment to helping fellow veterans being seen and heard. Shannon deployed to Afghanistan in 2015 during Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition to her duties as a musician and training NCO, Shannon also served as an Equal Opportunity NCO in the Washington DC National Guard.
Shannon is a passionate flute player and classically trained vocalist, performing regularly across the Northeast as well as abroad in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. She’s a literature, history, and social sciences nerd who is always yearning to learn more and apply those lessons to the future. When she’s not singing or playing the flute, she’s either traveling the world or volunteering her time with veterans, shelter animals, or environmental causes.
