Steve Mason

PATHH Guide

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Steve  arrives at Boulder Crest after a long career in public service. He served 22 years in various roles in a Virginia police department and another 23 years in other local government positions such as Human Rights Investigator, Public Information Officer, Special Assistant to the City Manager, and Human Resources Director. Although he comes from a Navy/Coast Guard family, Steve does not like deep water and chose to serve in the United States Army Military Police Corps.

During his tenure in a local Virginia government a coworker/colleague, who attended Warrior PATHH, noticed a drastic and dramatic change in his normally spirited attitude and behavior. She talked to him about the PATHH program, and in August 2023 Steve attended PATHH at Boulder Crest Virginia. Steve credits the program with “saving” his life and being directly responsible for him reconnecting with his family and showing him how to Struggle Well. After attending PATHH, Steve volunteered several times at BCF-VA, but knew he could contribute more to his fellow First Responders and Veterans as a PATHH Guide.

“My entire professional career has been in the services of others. I see nothing more rewarding than being able to help others learn how to Struggle Well because Shift Happens when you follow the PATHH.”

Steve enjoys racquetball, exercise, meditation, and quiet, reflective time. He and his wife Shelonda have two sons, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a four-pound Yorkie named Mason.
