The event will take place at Cornerstone Chapel located at 650 Battlefield Parkway SE, Leesburg, and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with local service providers and organizations, prior to the screening which begins at 6:30 p.m. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with the director Conrad Weaver, local first responders, and a local clinician who will discuss mental health and wellness, ending the stigma surrounding it, and how departments are encouraging members to seek help.
“PTSD911” is a documentary that highlights the mental health struggles of first responders, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to support their mental well-being. The film showcases real stories of individuals dealing with post-traumatic stress and provides expert insights on integrating mental wellness into first responder training and culture. The goal is to raise awareness and to end the stigma associated with seeking help.
“Hosting the screening of PTSD911 is a crucial step in acknowledging and addressing the mental health challenges faced by our brave first responders,” said Leesburg Police Chief Thea Pirnat. “This film sheds light on their struggles and underscores the importance of providing the support they need to continue serving our community with resilience and strength.”
