Sandy Freedman joined BCF in 2025 as Donor Stewardship Coordinator. She brings a decade of experience in the non-profit sector, with a focus on membership and development. She also has extensive experience working with volunteers.

Originally from upstate New York, Sandy raised her daughter, Emmy, in Alexandria. A few years ago, she relocated to Millwood, where she has been a substitute teacher at the Powhatan School and serves on the board of the Clarke County Historical Society.

Sandy’s family has a strong military background, with her father and oldest brother serving in the Navy and another brother in the Army.

Sandy holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of Virginia. Her daughter Emmy is a graduate of JMU and currently resides in Richmond with Sandy’s “granddog”.

Sandy is honored to be part of our mission and looks forward to interacting and engaging with the community at our many events throughout the year. In her free time, she can be found at the Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood or hiking at Raven Rocks or other nearby trails.
