Affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Levens is an associate professor of Psychology at UNC Charlotte. She earned her Ph.D. from New York University and has completed postdoctoral positions at various prestigious institutions. Dr. Levens is the director of the Levens Emotion and Cognition lab, where her research explores the impact of emotion and cognition on behavior in areas like mental and physical health, health behavior change, political attitudes, social movements, and emotion contagion on social media. Her interdisciplinary approach utilizes diverse methodologies, including neuroimaging, survey design, social media analysis, and intervention development. Dr. Levens has received funding from notable organizations such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
