Shilpa Amar M.D.

Medical Director

Affiliated with Ochsner Medical Center, Amar is the medical director for the Ochsner Behavioral Medical Unit and the Associate Program Director for LSUHSC – Ochsner Psychiatry Residency Program. Her specialties include consult liaison, emergency psychiatry, telemedicine, and general adult psychiatry. She received her doctor of medicine degree from St. Matthews University and completed her psychiatry residency program training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Ochsner Health System. Dr. Amara has received prestigious awards and is an active member of various psychiatric associations.
