MARCOS, WARRIOR PATHH PARTICIPANT

“Boulder Crest was here when I was at my rock bottom. My relationships were failing. I didn’t allow people to love me. It was chaos. I was at a point where none of the treatments were working. Boulder Crest has an amazing program. Just driving onto the property I felt this release. It challenges you. It gives you a different approach. It helped me process my traumas. I’m starting to live now.”

“Without Warrior PATHH, I would be just another statistic. It helped me realize I had no reason to feel guilty for surviving. It’s OK for me to laugh and smile, to live the life I deserve and build connections with others. It showed me that I don’t just have to cope, but I can truly live. Everyone in my life will forever be grateful for Warrior PATHH.”

“My life before Boulder Crest was me just surviving. Boulder Crest helped heal a lot of my emotional wounds. It made me realize that I’m worth it and I deserve to be here, that I deserve to have this chance to live again. You don’t need to be ashamed. You don’t need to be alone. When you come here, all of that goes away. It saved my life.”

“I felt so alone in my struggles and truly broken. But my biggest takeaway from the Warrior PATHH program: I’m not alone, and I’m not broken. I learned how to use trauma in my military and law enforcement careful to thrive in life. I’m committed to going home and creating a deep connection with my wife, my children, and my grandchildren.”

“Boulder Crest was there for me when I wasn’t there for myself. My life before was difficult in terms of problems in relationships with families and friends. I was trying to be better for them, but I just didn’t know how to do it. Boulder Crest helped me turn my life around by giving me hope. Now I’m able to enjoy the little things in life. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

“Warrior PATHH gave me the tools and practices to start taking steps forward to the life I deserve. Before I discovered the program, I had a significant emotional event in my life and didn’t feel bad about it. That was my wakeup call that I was so very lost and not congruent with my values as a person. I knew that I needed to make this event my rock bottom because if I didn’t, I was going to die.”

“A second chance is not always obtainable, but that is exactly what Warrior PATHH provides. It helped me identify that 18-inch gap between my head and my heart. I now realize I can grow stronger due to my past traumatic experiences.

Having confronted my past, I can move forward to new possibilities and form deeper relationships that I never thought were possible. I see that my wife, children, friends, and family are also inspired by this change. I find myself no longer wanting to isolate or turn to vices that I had used to numb the pain and symptoms of PTSD.

I now turn to healthy practices and routines. I am inspired daily by mental clarity through meditation, exercise, journaling, and reading. This clarity, this view of life is something I haven’t experienced or felt in years. Every day, I’m a better version of myself than the day before.”

Gabe, FAMILY R&R GUEST

“Before we came to Boulder Crest, we were existing more than thriving. After returning home, the family dynamic has been different. There is closeness in a variety of simple ways. Watching them smile and seeing the joy on their faces has been tremendous. If I can give a shout out or advice to a family who is struggling and thinking about coming here, I would say you deserve to be here. You deserve to have a better life.”

“Our stay has been everything we hoped for, and more. It’s been great spending quality time with one another, playing board games, and snuggling up by the fire at nights. This whole trip has been exactly what we needed to reset and enjoy each other. We loved the peacefulness of it all.”

FAMILY R&R GUEST

“When we found out there was an opening at Boulder Crest Arizona, you would have thought we hit the lottery. We didn’t think we would be able to take any kind of vacation this year with COVID-19 making travel so tricky.

The kids started a countdown and my husband and I joined in on the countdown fun. We started exploring the second we got here. There was so much to do. Thank you for taking care of the planning for us — from the activities on the grounds, to providing information about a local hiking spot, and suggestions about where to eat.

You were such a welcoming community. Thank you for providing this incredible safe haven for us and the military community. Our hearts are full. From this trip, we take incredible memories, once-in-a-lifetime pictures, an adorable cilantro plant and, most of all, peace.”

“We enjoyed the opportunity to connect and stay in the beautiful high desert. It is very peaceful for the soul here. The food was amazing, and the accommodations were beyond our expectations. We are all grateful for the positive takeaways.”

“Being around other military wives made me feel more connected and that it is OK not to be OK. While we were working on our struggles, that staff took care of our kids, giving us the opportunity to talk freely.”

“I felt like royalty when my husband and I attended Songwriting with Soldiers. This was the first program I attended that helped others aside from military members. I liked that the wives were so appreciated. Programs like this allow more healing. It was nice to form bonds here. Hearing what partners liked about one another was cool. We don’t focus on those things enough. it was a starting point to share more with each other.”

“Like I wrote in my song, ` Right now, I’m overwhelmed.’ So participating in Songwritingwith:Soldiers PATHH was very therapeutic. There are a lot of aspects to life being married to someone who has such a dangerous, demanding job.”
