Born and raised in Clarksburg, MA, Douglas felt a deep calling to serve his country, following in the footsteps of his father and uncles. In 1997, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he spent eight years honing his skills, eventually becoming a Jungle Warfare Instructor. After a deployment to Afghanistan, he sought out a new path, returning home to Massachusetts to work in construction. However, the pull to serve never left him. In 2007, Douglas reentered the military, this time in the U.S. Army as a Fire Support Specialist (Forward Observer). Over the next nearly six years, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, facing the harsh realities of combat. After years of dedicated service, he was medically retired in 2014 due to physical injuries and mental struggles.
Transitioning to civilian life, Douglas relocated to Maine, working as an Armed Security Officer while pursuing his education. He earned two associate degrees and a bachelor’s degree. Despite these achievements, and after relocating back to Georgia in 2019 the weight of his life experiences grew heavier. Seeking immediate transformation, he attended the Warrior PATHH program in 2020 in FL a life-changing experience for him that ignited his passion for helping others heal. Realizing his true calling and love for the outdoors, Douglas Dedicated himself to serving the warrior community. He took on volunteer roles with Project Healing Waters, Hometown Heroes Outdoors, Team Rubicon and Gratitude America. In 2023, he left his career in logistics to become a PATHH Guide with Gratitude America, later joining Boulder Crest Foundation MTT-B to expand his mission.
Now residing in Georgia with his wife, Shannon and daughter Irelyn, Douglas continues his professional development and recently received his ISSA Nutrition Certification while working toward a Personal Trainer certification and recently earned a Lean Six SIGMA White & Yellow Belt Certification. Through his leadership, experience and dedication, he empowers others to navigate their own journey of healing, resilience and purpose.
