Mary Arden grew up in New England and attended Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg), where she received a B.A. in history and international relations. Upon graduation she moved to northern Virginia and worked for a nonprofit family service organization for a year. Mary entered federal government service in 2001 and worked for the government for almost a decade. She accompanied her spouse on overseas assignments to the United Kingdom and Austria, and returned to Loudoun county with her family in 2015.
Mary Arden comes to us from the Middleburg Humane Foundation (MHF) where she spent the last three and a half years managing the organization’s community outreach, humane education programs, and contributing to its fundraising through grant writing, special events coordination and organizing online appeals. While she enjoyed her time advocating for animals and continues to volunteer with MHF, Mary’s family includes veterans who served in the U.S. Navy. Mary is excited to work for a group whose mission is to promote veteran and first responder welfare.
Mary resides in Western Loudoun County with her husband and three children. In her free time she enjoys gardening, tending to her poultry and visiting historic sites.
