PTG Domain 4: Spiritual & Existential Change Regulation

Greg “Coach” Morin | Spiritual & Existential Change through Regulation

December 20, 2024

In this video Greg Morin reminds us how regulation plays a crucial role in shaping how we experience spiritual and existential growth. By fostering strong minds, bodies, and relationships, we can embrace life’s biggest questions and build a life filled with curiosity and purpose. Surrounding ourselves with supportive people and engaging in wellness practices helps us align with the healthy rhythm of life. Conversely, unhealthy habits and influences can trap us in cycles of stagnation, preventing us from achieving the spiritual and personal growth we deserve.

What’s up team? Coach here coming to you today with a focus on spiritual and existential change – and the impact regulation has on that domain. We’ve talked about it before – that life is a series of ups and downs and that we have two choices – to lean into the healthy sine wave or lean into the unhealthy sine wave.

To lean into choice and opportunity and wellness and our support network, to lean into wellness practices that help us cultivate strong minds and bodies and strong finances and a strong spirit or – we can get stuck in the sneaky little hate spiral of life and live the unhealthy sine wave – the erratic heartbeat of life that is led by bad habits and unhealthy

Influencers. Regulation helps us choose which one we want to lean into – which style of life we want to live – and ultimately become and continue to be the best versions of ourselves.

So how does regulation impact and connect to spiritual and existential change? First let’s think about what is spiritual and existential change? For some it’s a growth in  spiritual life, it’s a returning to spiritual life – for others it’s an answering of the existential questions in life. Who am I? Why am I here? Where do I belong? What’s my purpose in life? And so the opportunity is to think about how do your wellness practices – how do the people in your life – allow you to cultivate, embrace, and live life’s biggest questions? How do they allow you to find the answers to who am I? Why am I here? To become the best version of yourself

You get to think about what are you doing? What actions are you taking? Those wellness practices and who you’re spending your time with, support network, and and mentors because those directly impact your ability not only to answer the existential questions in life – these big meaningful questions in life – but to be curious about them on levels that create depth and opportunity so that the life you live is intentional and consistently growing.

The healthy triangle – the effort that goes into cultivating a strong mind and body and finances,to have a a strong spirit in the middle, and the sine wave lead to curiosity in life, to growth in life, and to the life that you deserve to live, however, if we lean into that unhealthy triangle and the unhealthy sine wave, it leads to stagnation, it leads to decline and diminishment, and maybe even a diagnosis. So think about this – reflect on and jot down some answers to a couple questions. What wellness practices are you utilizing each day to help you experience, cultivate spiritual and existential change in your life? Who are the people in your life that help you lean into growth in this area of spiritual and existential change? Who holds you accountable to answering those questions? Who supports you and encourages you to to seek a deeper level of understanding in your life?

If you struggle to answer these questions, you’ve got to think about what are the bad habits that are still around? What are the bad habits that you’re still leaning into and who are those unhealthy influences in your life that are preventing you from experiencing the spiritual and existential change that you deserve?
